Blue GFX 9 November 2017 - Save The Date!

Save the date! For all our students in the London area, Blue GFX Expo is taking place in Waterloo on 9th November 2017.

Last year speakers included Tom Box from Blue Zoo, one of the UK's biggest TV animation company, Stuart Penn from Framestore, and the folks from Autodesk showing the latest tools.

If you're in the neighbourhood, this will be a great chance to catch up with new technology (such as Maya 2018) and meet in person people from the UK's top animation and visual effects houses - including (most importantly) recruiters.  And best of all, the event is completely free.

What's this all about?
The Bluegfx Expo is a superb opportunity for students - and professionals - working in games development, film, TV and design visualisation to chat with each other and learn about the latest developments in technology and workflow systems. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet industry folks and try out the latest products.

How much does it cost?
Nothing! BlueGFX Expo is completely free!

How can you apply?
You can't register yet, but keep an eye on the official page until registration is announced.

When is it taking place?
The BlueGFX annual expo is on November 9th and lasts all day.

Where is is happening?
At the Coin Street Centre on London's South Bank, just across Waterloo Bridge.  The address is 108 Stamford St, London, South Bank SE1 9NH.  See the map below, courtesy of Google Maps.

How do you get there?
The Coin Street Centre is 5 min walk from Waterloo train and tube station and Southwark tube station. You can also take the Tube to Embankment and Temple, and then walk across the river.  When you get to Stamford Street, look for the big yellow modern building that looks a bit like a community centre (which is what it is).

My top tip for the day is to arrive late (say around 11am or noon is), but stay late. The best stuff is usually in the evening, and there are drinks and prizes for those who stick around.  The most interesting talks are usually about how projects get put together - a meaningful insight into how the industry actually works.

Plus, you get to meet the people who work on some of biggest and most successful animation and VFX projects.

See you there!
